Memphis C. S. Lewis Society Minutes of November 14, 1999 meeting Classroom B - Memphis Theological Seminary Present: Barry Anderson, Dennis Beets, Janet Cupo, Knick Knickerbocker, Bill Marty, Ann Marty, Andy McClung, Sara ODell, Lynn Whetherholt. Dennis Beets opened the meeting with prayer. This meeting marked the third anniversary of the society. It was noted that several members attended a breakfast in honor of Dr. Stan Mattson, Director of the C. S. Lewis Foundation of Redlands, California. Barry Anderson shared e-mail from a student in Brazil indicating a shortage of Lewis material in his area. It was suggested members of the group donate any extra copies of Lewisworks to the society and that the books be forwarded to Brazil. The program was a presentation by Barry Anderson on the life of Charles Williams, one of the Inklings. The group listened to an audio tape of Lewis presenting a critique of the writings of Williams. An in-depth discussion followed. The next meeting will be on December 12. The program will feature various favorite readings of the membership. Submitted by Barry Anderson |
